Cafe - İstanbul Maltepe

The Blue Monkey project, which we brought to life in Maltepe, Istanbul in 2025, is a special concept study that takes the brand's accustomed identity to a brand-new dimension and stretches the boundaries of design. Under normal circumstances, we completely independentized the Blue Monkey brand, which serves with the "shop-in-shop" model within large retail stores such as SPX and Vault and supports the active life culture, from the commercial sales area in this project. For the first time, this structure, which was conceptualized as a standalone visionary independent cafe space without being included in the retail store concept, also reveals the strong identity of the brand standing on its own feet. During the design process, while reflecting the energetic, young, and dynamic nature of the brand in every corner of the space, we focused on the harmony of modern and rustic elements. Indoors, we blended the natural and warm feel of raw wood textures with vibrant blue ceilings that reflect the spirit of Blue Monkey, dynamic red-and-white striped wall details, and large windows. In particular, the selection of extreme and nature sports-themed photographs displayed as a large gallery on the wall made an elegant nod to the brand's SPX roots and sporting background, while giving the space a unique and intellectual character.

We implemented a layout that prioritizes comfort and social interaction in both the interior and the expanded outdoor patio area of the cafe. Thanks to the vibrantly colored designer chairs, rustic wooden seating groups, and booths supported by comfortable striped cushions, we created an inviting and spacious atmosphere where visitors can enjoy their time at any hour of the day. As a result, stepping outside the conventional molds, we designed a modern meeting point that exhibits a strong independent stance, possesses high energy, is inspiring, and keeps pace with the rhythm of Maltepe.
